Tornados brought brilliant energy into today’s match, showing determination, teamwork, and real growth across the court. Tigers applied strong pressure, but the girls responded with resilience and some excellent passages of play.

Team Performance

Centre‑court play was confident, with purposeful drives and good decision‑making under pressure.

Defence worked hard to disrupt Tigers’ rhythm, creating turnovers through persistence and smart timing.

Shooting circle combinations strengthened each quarter, with improved movement and communication.

Transitions were quicker and more connected, helping the team make the most of their opportunities.

Defensive Development Focus

We’ll continue building our defensive structure across the three stages the girls are learning:

Stage 1 – Person‑on‑Person Marking:  

Staying tight, tracking your player, and denying them easy access to the ball.

Stage 2 – High‑Arms Marking the Ball:  

Applying pressure on the pass, using strong body positioning and high arms to limit options and force errors.

Stage 3 – Stand Up & Dictate Space:  

Moving from Stage 2 into an upright, controlled position to guide attackers away from where they want to go and disrupt their planned movement.

There were strong moments in all three stages today — the next step is applying them consistently as a unit.

Player Resilience

A special mention to Freya, who came into the match feeling unwell but showed real grit. She bounced back for her teammates, worked hard, and her determination lifted the group.
