Macklins Academy vs GNG Corals

Taking on the league leaders is never an easy task, but Macklins Academy stepped onto the court against GNG Corals with a clear game plan and an incredible amount of heart. Facing hot, soaring conditions that tested their stamina, the Academy squad fought valiantly to disrupt the flow of goals from a very strong opposition.

The team started with fantastic defensive discipline, keeping the first quarter tight at 3-1 to the Corals. They continued to execute their game plan brilliantly heading into halftime, battling hard to keep the scoreline to 7-4. Despite the sweltering heat, Macklins refused to give up, pushing through a demanding third quarter (10-4) before the match finally concluded at 15-6.

Our defensive duo, Ariel and Grace, were absolutely amazing. They showcased all their key defensive skills, working tirelessly to shut down passing lanes and keep the Corals' scoring to a minimum.

In the mid-court, Ella, Amariah, and Eva brought high energy and an undeniable desire to the game. Their work rate in the blistering heat was outstanding, constantly creating space and seamlessly moving the ball down the court to support the attackers.

A special mention goes to our captain, Phoebe, who stepped up to play Goal Attack—an unfamiliar position from her usual Wing Attack role. She led by example, partnering beautifully with Isla Cameron, who shot well and worked hard to create scoring opportunities against a tough defensive line.

Player of the Match

A huge congratulations goes to Ella, who took home the Player of the Match honors! As a new player to the team, she has adapted fantastically to the squad and our style of play. We are so incredibly proud of her performance; she played a fantastic game out there in the soaring temperatures and truly deserved her reward today.

Final Thoughts

We are incredibly proud of the effort and resilience shown by the entire squad. With lots of new faces and a team that is still building its chemistry, the future is looking exceptionally bright for Macklins Junior Netball.
