U14 Macklins
The U14 Macklins continued their journey as a brand‑new squad today, facing a strong opposition and learning more about each other with every quarter. The final score was a tough 4–25, but the performance had some real highlights especially in defence.
🛡️ Defence: Outstanding All Game
The defensive end was nothing short of exceptional. They read the play early, hunted every loose ball, and forced multiple turnovers against a very accurate attacking side. Their communication and determination kept the team competitive and set a brilliant example for the rest of the court.
🔄 Centre Third Challenges
The centre third found it difficult to move the ball through to the shooters today. Strong opposition pressure and unfamiliar combinations meant our transitions weren’t as smooth as they could be. But even in the tough moments, the girls kept offering, kept driving, and kept trying to connect exactly what you want from a new team still learning each other’s timing.
With more time together, these links will strengthen and the ball will flow more confidently into the circle.
🎯 Shooting Circle
Despite limited supply, the shooters stayed composed, took their chances, and supported each other well on rebounds. Every goal was earned through persistence and teamwork.
🌟 Player of the Match – Lexi
Lexi made a phenomenal impact today. Whether contesting in defence or driving strongly through court, she lifted the team every time she stepped on. Her energy, timing, and willingness to work for every ball made her a standout performer.
🔮 Looking Ahead
This team is at the very beginning of its journey. The defensive foundations are already strong, and once the centre‑court connections settle, the whole game will open up. There’s huge potential here today was another important step in building it.
Well done, Macklins U14. Plenty to be proud of and plenty to grow from.
