🐝 Macklins U14 vs Comets 3

Final Score: Macklins 24 – 11 Comets 3

Quarter Scores: 9–3 | 18–4 | 23–7 | 24–11

The Macklins U14s delivered an exceptional performance against top-of-the-table Comets 3, producing their most complete team display of the season so far. From the first whistle, the girls played with confidence, determination and belief, taking control of the game early and maintaining their intensity throughout all four quarters.

Leading from the front was Captain Emily, who set the standard with her communication, work rate and leadership. Emily's ability to connect every area of the court was outstanding, ensuring the team stayed composed and focused on the game plan. It was a fitting reward that, on her birthday weekend, she was awarded Player of the Match following a truly influential performance.

The defensive unit of Abi, Ariel, Grace T and Lexi was immense. Their pressure was relentless, forcing Comets into mistakes and making every pass a challenge. Their strong marking, determination and teamwork created countless turnovers and provided the platform for Macklins to build momentum and extend their lead throughout the match.

Through the middle of the court, Emily, Amariah, Freya and Eva were outstanding. The connections they created were a clear reflection of the hard work being put in at training. Their movement, timing and support play kept the ball flowing smoothly from defence into attack, with every player working tirelessly for the team.

In attack, Lucy and Iris formed a fantastic partnership. Lucy was absolutely on fire, shooting with confidence and accuracy and capitalising on the opportunities created around her. Alongside her, Iris worked tirelessly to create opportunities, using intelligent movement and strong positioning to open up space in the circle and support the attacking unit. Together, they kept the scoreboard ticking over and caused Comets problems all game long.

What made this victory so special was not just the scoreline, but the way the team played together. Every player contributed, every player trusted one another, and every player embraced their role. The improvements from training were evident across the court, with the girls showing patience, discipline and confidence in everything they did.

This match was the perfect example of our Queen Bee Energy mantra. A Queen Bee does not succeed on her own. Success comes from a strong hive pulling together, supporting one another and working towards a common goal. Against Comets, that is exactly what the girls did. They played as one hive, encouraging each other, working hard for each other and demonstrating what can be achieved when everyone gives their best for the team.

A fantastic win against the league leaders and a performance to be incredibly proud of.

🏆 Player of the Match: Emily

🐝 Queen Bee Energy: A strong hive pulling together.
