14M vs Pink Crystals

Today’s matchup between Macklins U14s and Pink Crystals was a wonderful display of grassroots fair play, collective effort, and mutual respect. Both teams contributed to a highly engaging and evenly matched game that went right down to the final whistle, highlighting the fantastic athletic development of everyone on the court.

The game opened with Pink Crystals establishing an early rhythm, ending the first quarter with a 5-2 advantage. Demonstrating great resilience and collective focus, Macklins adapted their strategy in the second quarter. The team worked seamlessly together to close the gap, heading into halftime trailing by just one goal at 6-7.

In the third quarter, Pink Crystals found their momentum again, extending their lead to 12-9. However, the inclusive and supportive spirit of the Macklins squad truly shone through in the final quarter. Encouraging one another across the court, the team mounted a remarkable comeback to take a 15-14 lead with just two minutes remaining. While Macklins put forth a tremendous unified effort, Pink Crystals managed to secure a 16-15 victory in the closing moments.

Players of the Match: Special recognition goes to our dual Players of the Match, Emily and Abi, who both beautifully demonstrated what it means to be a team player.

• Emily took on Centre (C) and stepped out of her comfort zone to play Goal Attack (GA), a new position for her.
• Abi anchored the team at Goal Keeper (GK) and also embraced a new role at Wing Defence (WD).

Both players showed incredible versatility and a willingness to embrace new challenges to support the squad. Their adaptability is a testament to the safe, encouraging environment our team strives to build—one where players feel empowered to try new things, learn, and grow together.
