Club Newsletter: End-of-Winter 2025/26 into Start-of-Summer 2026

A Note from the Chair

As we close the winter season, I want to thank every player, parent, coach, and volunteer who has helped keep our club moving forward through the colder months. Winter always asks a little more of us, extra layers, darker evenings, and plenty of determination and you’ve all shown such commitment and spirit.

I’m incredibly proud of how our teams have grown, not just in skill but in confidence, connection, and resilience. Whether you were courtside cheering, or organising behind the scenes, you’ve played a part in creating an environment where our players feel supported and inspired.

Looking ahead to summer, we’re stepping into a season of fresh energy and opportunity. With new team structures taking shape and some exciting collaborations on the horizon, this next chapter feels full of possibility. I’m grateful to be leading a club that truly feels like a community, and I can’t wait to see what we achieve together.

A word on Fees - 2026 Season Price Update

We’ve reviewed our training and match fees to keep pace with rising hall hire and league costs while still keeping netball affordable for all our members. In most cases, your cost per session has been reduced but any increases have been kept to an absolute minimum to cover costs.

Why we’ve made these adjustments:

• Hall hire and league fees have increased again this year
• Seasonal pricing ensures members only pay for the sessions delivered
• The cost per session remains low (or has become even lower), between £2.95 and £4.71
• This structure keeps fees fair across juniors and seniors
• Every penny goes back into coaching, equipment, and running the club

Training and Attendance at Matches

Training is billed in blocks per school term. Attendance at training is expected unless agreed with the club in advance. Once you are assigned to a team you will be billed in blocks per match fixtures, typically covering the session.

You can choose to pay your fees/memberships in one full payment or in installments

You must become a member of Macklins Netball Club via England Netball’s Engage system and Teamo to continue training.

Payment and Fees

• All fees must be paid within the timeframe specified
• If fees are not paid within this timeframe, the athlete will not be permitted to train or play until payment is received
• For athletes under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian is responsible for all fees assigned by the club
• If you are in a Team all Match fees must be paid when allocated to that team.

If a Player Leaves the Club

Please note: Once a player is registered for the season, the full fee remains payable, even if they leave or stop playing partway through. This is because the club’s operating cost, such as team registration, court hire, match fees, and equipment are based on the total number of registered players. These expenses don’t reduce if someone leaves mid-season.

Make sure you measure properly – here’s what has happened in the past when members have simply checked the labels of other dresses they own. We can measure you at training if you are unsure.

Choose Child or Adult size depending on what you need.

Heads up: We need a minimum of 10 orders to launch the bulk order — and we’re nearly there! So don’t wait around, get yours in and tell your teammates too!

Parent/Carers/Members Forum

A wonderful chance for families to share ideas, ask questions, and get involved in the club’s activities. We’ll reach out to you for ideas on where and when.

Macklins Netball Club 20th Anniversary Celebration!

The club was formed in 2006 so this year, we celebrate 20 years old! We’ll hold a celebration to mark the occasion, and we already have some of our longer-standing members working behind the scenes on some ideas. We’re also meeting up with our founding members and some of the pivotal characters that guided the club to the heights we reached over the years. Our first ever awards night was held in 2008 and since then we have held a number of epic parties to celebrate our various achievements. This year must be the biggest one yet! Keep an eye out for news on this as you won’t want to miss such an historic event, and if you have any ideas please do share with any of your Club Committee.

Do you know who your Club Safeguarding Officers are?

Whilst Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, we do have a Club Safeguarding Lead in Adam Smith and a Club Safeguarding Officer in Phill Harvey. You can approach any of the Club Committee to flag any concerns you might have, even if ‘it might be nothing’ who can relay your concerns to one of our experts, or you can come to either Adam or Phill directly who can escalate your concern. They are both qualified and experienced and will know what to do. If you don’t know who they are, please ask at training as it is vital that you recognise them and know how to contact them at any time.
